iMove™ and InMotion Technologies Partner to Deliver Enhanced Sports Video Solutions
Companies create a tool set for covering sporting events on the Internet
June 26, 2000

Portland, Ore., – iMove™ Inc., the provider of Multiview Interactive Video™ , today announced a partnership with InMotion Technologies, developer of special effect applications for broadcast, Internet and training applications. The goal of the alliance is to showcase both software technologies as a package for content partners to cover sports-related events.

The first iMove and InMotion project will record the action at a European-based event. One possible event is Athletissima, a leading track and field competition held in Lausanne, Switzerland on July 5, 2000. InMotion, in cooperation with Swisscom, is creating the live and on demand coverage of Athletissima at www.athletissima.ch/webtv.htm.

iMove’s Multiview Interactive Video delivers multiple camera angles, including a 360-degree spherical view, in a single playback file that can be enhanced with embedded audio, text and website hotspots. This new video type allows the user to control viewing angle, direction, degree of zoom and choose which hotspots to explore. Multiview Interactive Video has been used to analyze a golf swing from many different angles and to capture the action at an auto race with a 360-degree camera that allows the viewer to look in any direction.

“Multiview Interactive Video and InMotion’s special effects complement each other and extend iMove’s video storytelling capability,” said Kermit Yensen, CEO of iMove. “Together we will revolutionize sports media by offering sports producers a complete set of interactive video production tools.”

InMotion’s special effects, StoMotion and VideoFinish™ , will be showcased on the Athletissima site. For the first time ever at a sporting event, InMotion will be presenting StroMotion. StroMotion’s digital imaging allows the viewer to see the sequence of movements during an athlete’s performance. The Emmy Award nominated VideoFinish will also be featured. Using the video footage of two athletes competing at different times in the same setting, VideoFinish provides a method for comparison. Using digital imaging technology to match the competitors on the same image, spectators can compare the athletic performances.

“We look to enhance our market exposure with iMove’s multicamera approach,” said Jean-Marie Ayer, CEO of InMotion. “This collaboration will extend the dramatic impact InMotion Technologies currently creates.”
