The CD allows users to enjoy virtual racing at the Silverstone Race Track, utilizing spherical video
March 13, 2000

Portland, Ore. – iMove™ Inc., the provider of Multiview Interactive VideoTM, has enabled the creation of a virtual race experience for race fans in the United Kingdom. iMove’s technology allows fans to see a 360-degree view from inside a Ferrari 355, speeding around the Silverstone Race Track in Northamptonshire, England. The video was created by Rotography.comTM, using the iMove Spherical Video System to capture the Multiview Interactive Video.

This race video is part of a co-branded AOL/Netscape Online promotional CD developed in conjunction with ElfTM, Silverstone InsuranceTM, Silverstone Circuits™ and Silverstone DriveTM. More than 500,000 disks were created and will be distributed at Elf’s gas stations throughout the UK as well as given to prospective customers for Silverstone Insurance.

“Multiview Interactive Video opens new opportunities for allowing sports fans to become involved with their favorite activities,” said Kermit Yensen, CEO of iMove. “In this race example, iMove immerses users in the center of the race action and allows them to explore the surrounding environment. It is unlike traditional video experiences in which users have no control of what they see.”

The iMove Spherical Video System includes the iMove SVS multiple lens camera which captures 360-degree spherical video. Spherical video is one example of Multiview Interactive Video. This type of video changes users expectations of what a video experience can be, by letting them control movement, pan 360-degrees and delve into audio, text and hotspots to websites.

“The CD places users in the driver’s seat, letting them look over their shoulder at the other cars,” said David Clarke, Sales and Marketing Director for Rotography.com. “Using their mouse, users can pan around and advance the video looking anywhere at anytime – something that’s not recommended at 200 miles per hour, but quite safe from the comfort of a chair.”

iMove’s Multiview Interactive Video transforms video from a passive to an active experience for the Internet and interactive TV. iMove provides a production and delivery system that enables users of video content to select different camera angles, including a 360-degree spherical view, control playback speed and direction, rewind and freeze frames and delve into audio, text and website hotspots. Founded in 1995 and located in Portland, Ore., iMove is the only provider of Multiview Interactive Video for the interactive sports, news/entertainment and e-commerce markets.
